Characteristics And Advantages Of 5-Axis CNC Machining

(1) Improve cutting state and cutting conditions

As shown in figure a), when the cutting tool moves towards the top or the edge of the workpiece, the cutting state gradually deteriorates. In order to maintain the best cutting state, it is necessary to rotate the workbench. If you want to completely process the irregular plane, you also need to rotate the workbench several times in different directions.

Improve cutting state and cutting conditions

As shown in Figure b) schematic diagram of tool tip position, the deflection tool of 5-axis machine tool can avoid the cutting speed at the center point of ball end milling cutter being 0 and obtain better surface quality.

(2) Shorten manufacturing chain and production cycle

The 5-axis CNC machine tool processes the side wall through the deflection of the spindle head, which does not need multiple parts clamping, effectively reduces the positioning error, improves the machining accuracy, and shortens the manufacturing chain. In aerospace, automobile and other fields, it has high flexibility, high precision, high integration and complete processing ability, which can well solve the precision and cycle problems of complex parts processing in the process of new product R & D, greatly shorten the R & D cycle and improve the success rate of new products.

(3) Efficiency improvement and interference elimination

For the processing of impeller, blade and steep side wall of die, 3-axis NC machine tool can not meet the processing requirements, while 5-axis CNC machine tool can complete this kind of processing content through the spatial attitude angle control of cutter axis. At the same time, it can realize the processing of deep cavity with short tools, effectively improve the rigidity of the system, reduce the number of tools, avoid special tools, and expand the application range of general tools, so as to reduce the production cost.

For some inclined surfaces, 5-axis CNC machining can use the side edge of the tool to complete the side wall cutting of the part by peripheral milling, so as to improve the machining efficiency and surface quality. The 3-axis CNC machining relies on the layered cutting and subsequent grinding of the tool to approach the inclined plane.
